Commissions

A commissioned work of art is an excellent gift which you and your family can enjoy for generations. The Raymond Gallery runs a commissions service.

A consultation will be arranged to help you select the right details for your commission and guide you through the commission’s process. There is no charge for the consultation; you just need to make an appointment.

Portraits

Questions to consider:

  1. What type of art do you admire?

  2. What do you want from the portrait?

  3. For what purpose have you requested the portrait- to commemorate an anniversary, birthday etc?

After finalising your details, you set up the sittings. These are enjoyable occasions and many long-lasting friendships have been formed between artist and sitter. As a rule, six to eight sittings of two hours will be the minimum time needed. On exceptional occasions, such as when a portrait is posthumous, an artist can create a portrait without sittings. Raymond is prepared to travel to the sitter, although there are advantages to working in the artist’s studio, such as having good quality light.

My approach to each project is always to work closely with the client and provide professional guidance and expertise at every step of the process.
